Frost is a modern fairytale based on a local balkan myth. The film will mythologize balkan folklore and give it a global appeal. It will be shoot in eastern part of serbia: the idea is to adopt the existing locations to appear magical and somewhat unreal.
Frost explores beliefs, tradition, superstition, the psychology of the characters, all this thru a fantasy and thriller genre elements. The main character explores herself, her search is interior as much as it is a crime investigation story. This mixture makes it ideal for making a fresh and exotic film which will be an art- house fantasy film.
Fantasy elements in the film will be treated and crafted accordingly in the highest cinema standards. The art-house style will be present through framing, sound, camera angles...In the overall treatment of the content. Therefore frost will be able to communicate with a wide audience - arthouse film audience and box-office cinema goers, especially with dedicated genre lovers.

This subject and idea intrigue me because of The possibility to use elements of detectiveAnd fantasy film genres, to depict subtle personality changes and psychological search into the suppressed parts of consciousness and deep mythological past. Such detective investigation that considers our laws of logic, our contemporary outlook, our relationship with nature, religion, supernatural, and finally, our relationship with ourselves is something i find very interesting. It is an investigation into the symbolic and spiritual word.
Frost is also a female version of a dragon-slayer story, but in frost, the dragon is a symbol of nature, freedom and inner strength. Miryana, a woman who took over the male role of a “hero” is given a choice to kill the dragon/nature (within herself) or not.
In Eastern Serbia, there is a legend about a dragon that occasionally chooses a human lover. Once the dragon chose a young man from a village and visited him every night in a shape of a beautiful girl. The young man fell in love with the dragon-girl and started losing interest in everyday life.
During the day he was depressed, all he ever wanted was for the night to fall when he could be in the arms of his lover. The young man’s mother figured out what was going on and decided to save her son. One night, while he was with the dragon-girl, she sneaked into his room and burnt the skin the dragon left behind each time he took a human shape. Instantly, the dragon died. The next day, the young man lost his mind from grief and early frost covered the village, destroying the crops.
